Kanelbullens Dag

Hej everyone,

It has now been 3 weeks since my accident and 2 weeks since my operation. I am still quite sore but I am doing my stretches and are improving everyday! I miss being in the kitchen and baking for you all So very much and can’t wait to put my apron back on.

Well….a very important birthday is coming up. On the 4th of October it’s “Kanelbullens Dag” or “Cinnamon Bun Day”. In Sweden we love them so much that we created a special day for them. Around 7 million buns are sold on Kanelbullens Dag and around 57% of all Swedes are believed to eat AT LEAST one on the 4th of October.

For you who don’t know me, I have a crazy trio of boys at home…YES they are Triplets and who can guess what day they were born?! Haha the 4th of October! So of course, every birthday morning I will get up super early just to be able to bring in freshly baked cinnamon buns for brekkie in bed. It’s their absolute favorite and I love this little tradition of ours.

If you want to join the celebration, I will be baking fresh buns on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October. Being the boys birthday Pick up ONLY on the 4th before 10AM.

I hope you are all well and I can’t wait to see all soon.

Midsummer

Hej everyone!

This Friday its Midsummer in Sweden, one of the most loved traditions.  Also known as the summer solstice, the longest day of the year!

Swedes will clear out of the city, heading to the country side or archipelago to eat, drink, dance and sing.

Midsummer is a day and night filled with food, many lovely pickled things, the first-picked strawberries of the season, clinking of nubbe, small shot glasses filled with chilled aquavit and off course the compulsory dance around the maypole.

Watch this YouTube video for a complete understanding 😉 https://youtu.be/TzXQTi6IJXI

This tradition of ours is always celebrated on the second last Friday of June and it is such a great festive beginning to the summer holidays.

I have been super lucky to have a summer house on a little island outside Stockholm where we always celebrate together with friends and family. I miss celebrating this fun filled day back home but I am fortunate to have so many Swedish friends on the Central Coast that I get to celebrate this day with.

Sooo, what Swedish should I bring to our Midsummer buffet on Friday? I am thinking cake and I am thinking strawberries…traditional or with a twist? I promise to upload some pics after the weekend.

Glad Midsummer

Follow Your Dream

Hej friends,

I am so glad you found me!

What a crazy couple of months it has been. I think we can all agree that we will never forget 2020!

Being a travel agent with nothing currently to sell due to Covid19 and international boarders closed, it forced me to stay at home and home school my triplet boys. Oh boy, biggest challenge by far in my life! I love them but to teach three 6 year olds is not an easy job. I take my hat off to teachers, what an amazing job they do looking after our little people.

A dream of mine has always been to have my own little Swedish bakery where people can come for Fika and catch up with friends. But with life being crazy and busy I have never had the chance to fulfil my dream.

So after a couple of weeks at home being a mum, a housewife and a teacher, I thought let’s do this! Let’s stop dreaming and let’s do something about it. I will never get an opportunity like this again so let’s see where it will take me.

I have had a great start with lots of lovely orders and fantastic feedback. It has been fun and SO rewarding! I love seeing you all when I deliver your treats and its so heart warming when you tell me how much you enjoyed them.

I encourage you to follow that dream of yours and take this opportunity to make it real!

Thank you for your support and kind words.

Love
